Abstract

Cancer, including non-transmitted diseases, grows and develops rapidly. Breast cancer (Carsinoma Mammae), a malignant tumor that grows in the breast area, has the highest rate of spread in Indonesia. These cancer cells can naturally spread through the bloodstream. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death. Factors that can influence the emergence of breast cancer include age > 50 years, a family history of breast cancer, obesity, smoking, alcohol, radiation, never giving birth or giving birth after the age of 35, and not breastfeeding. Breast cancer can be caused by late menopause > 50 years and early menstruation 12 years. With SADARI, the community can carry out a program for early detection of breast cancer (breast self-examination), However, this program is still not being handled properly due to a lack of public awareness about CA Mammae and how to carry it out. The goal of this study was to determine the relationship between CA Mammae knowledge and attitudes toward BSE. This study used a descriptive analytic, cross-sectional design and 96 respondents via a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the respondents' level of knowledge about CA Mammae was distributed most evenly, namely in the good category, namely 68 people (70.8%) and in the bad category, namely 28 people (29.2%), and the respondents' attitude was mostly in the good category, namely 75 people (78.1%) and others in the quite good category, namely 21 people (21.9%). While the chi-square test value between variables of good knowledge and a good attitude is 56 (82.4%), those with a good attitude are 19 (67.9%).
