Abstract
Kampung Laut is one of the sub-districts in Cilacap Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Kampung Laut sub-district has a geographical location near Segara Anakan which is overgrown with mangrove plants. Mangrove plants grow in coastal areas that are affected by tides. The objectives of this study are: (1) to analyse the distribution of mangroves using Mangrove Vegetation Index (MVI) technique in Kampung Laut sub-district of Cilacap Regency in 2023 (2) to analyse the distribution of mangrove density level using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) technique in Kampung Laut sub-district in 2023 (3) to analyse the distribution of mangrove health level using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) technique in Kampung Laut sub-district in 2023. Mangrove plants can be identified using remote sensing technology. The data used in this study is Sentinel-2A image in 2023. In determining the distribution of mangroves using the Mangrove Vegetation Index (MVI) technique in the study area, while to determine the level of mangrove health in the study area the author used the Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) algorithm. Based on the research, the accuracy test results of 91.30% exceeded the minimum limit of acceptance of an interpretation of 85%. The result of mangrove area is 3,755.88 ha. Of the total area, 2,511.41 ha or 66.87% of the mangrove area has very good condition and 621.39 ha or 16.54% of the mangrove area has good condition. Both conditions are dominated in Ujungalang Village and Klaces Village. In addition, an area of 430.44 ha or 11.46% is a mangrove area with normal conditions and 192.64 ha or 5.13% is a mangrove area with poor conditions, both conditions are dominated by Panikel Village and Ujunggagak Village.
