Abstract

The Independent Entrepreneurship Program is a program initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia which aims to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit among students. This program provides opportunities for students to develop their business ideas with guidance from supervisors and mentors from UMKM. The Independent Entrepreneurship Program makes a positive contribution in increasing the innovation and creativity of Muhammadiyah University Surakarta students. Through this program, students are trained to develop ideas and design innovative products/services. They also learn to solve problems creatively. Obstacles in running a business train students to think outside the box. Interaction with consumers and competitors sharpens students' ability to innovate. The main supporting factor is an environment that encourages the development of ideas without fear of failure. Apart from that, the Independent Entrepreneurship Program at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta discusses all the activities carried out by the author while implementing the program which was carried out for 5 (five) months. It is recommended that this program continue to be developed by improving implementation strategies.
