Abstract

A transformer is an electrical power component whose function is to transfer electrical energy from several electrical circuits through a magnetic coupling by reducing the voltage to customers according to the principle of electromagnetic induction. The load that is generally given to the transformer is no more than 80%, so that the transformer used with an excess load can cause damage to the transformer itself. In Pedan Rayon, precisely in Kredenan Village, Trucuk, Klaten, there is a single-phase 50 kVA distribution transformer K1-137/82F pole experiencing overload. Data collection through direct measurement stages at distribution network locations, calculations, ETAP 12.6.0 software simulation. The aim of this research is to improve the percentage of transformer overload, voltage drop and power losses on the K1-137/82F transformer by installing an insert transformer to overcome these problems. The method in this research is to compare the calculation results with the ETAP 12.6.0 software simulation. It is known from the research results that the load percentage on the K1-137/82F transformer in simulation and calculation was 188.3%, then after installing the insert transformer it became 85.6%, experiencing a decrease of 102.7%. The percentage of voltage drop on the K1-137/82F from the calculation of the percentage of voltage drop on channel X1 decreased by 9.5%, channel X2 by 9.7% and in simulation on channel X1 fell by 9.3%, channel X2 fell by 9.8%. Power losses or losses on K1-137/82F channel X1 fell by 3,146 kW, channel X2 by 3,261 kW then in the simulation channel X1 decreased by 3.3 kW and channel X2 decreased by 3.4 kW.
