Abstract

With different psychological conditions, psychological disorders are often felt by the elderly. this study aims to describe the psychological condition of the elderly who live in the pajang halfway house. this study used descriptive qualitative methods. This study involved elderly people with age criteria ≥ 60 years, living in more than 1 year, communicating well, willing to be a subject in research, spiritually healthy. Data collection methods and testing the validity of research using interviews, documentation, and observation. Analyzing using interactive data analysis. The results of research on cognitive aspects show that 2 out of 5 elderly people choose to live in a halfway house on the basis of personal desires with external driving factors. affective aspects 4 out of 5 elderly people are able to feel relieved with their current situation created from a feeling of comfort and calm in a halfway house. interpersonal aspects of all informants are able to be open to others and create emotional bonds between them. This study has a weakness in data collection only focused on the elderly. The conclusion in this study is that in the cognitive aspect, informants are able to find solutions to the problems they are experiencing, namely by adapting to live in a halfway house. affective aspects, the success of informant adaptation cannot be separated from the good role of the officer, with good service being able to bring up emotional well-being in informants.
