Abstract

The mental health phenomenon in high school students shows that many students experience mental health problems such as stress, depression and behavioral disorders. Teenagers' lack of knowledge about how to deal with mental health problems is one of the causes of mental health problems. There are many ways to increase teenagers' knowledge, one of which is by providing mental health information through the social media platform that is most popular with teenagers, namely Instagram. This research aims to determine the effect of using Instagram media as a medium to fulfill information needs on the level of mental health knowledge in class XII students at SMAN 8 Surakarta. This research method uses a quantitative pre-experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The results of the Wilcoxon analysis show p value = 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that there is an influence of mental health education using Instagram media on the level of knowledge of high school students. It is recommended that future research compare the effectiveness of health promotion via Instagram with other methods of delivering material.
