Abstract

COPD is the 7th most common non-communicable disease suffered by patients in Central Java in 2021. COPD with exacerbations requires antibiotic therapy due to worsening of the patient's symptoms. Irrational use of antibiotics can cause therapeutic failure and antibiotic resistance. The aim of this research is to provide an overview of antibiotic use and analyze the accuracy of antibiotic selection based on the right indication, the right patient, the right drug, and the right dose in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD at the inpatient installation of RSUD Dr. Moewardi in 2022. The research was conducted from September to December 2023. This research is non-experimental research using descriptive methods and retrospective medical record tracing techniques. The data obtained was 46 samples using the purposive sampling method. The results show that antibiotics are used for patients with acute exacerbation of COPD at the inpatient installation of RSUD Dr. Moewardi in 2022, namely ampicillin sulbactam (54.35%), levofloxacin (50%), ciprofloxacin (17.39%), azithromycin (17.39%), meropenem (15.22%), ceftriaxone (6.52%) , gentamicin (4.35%), piperacillin tazobactam (2.17%), ceftazidime (2.17%), and doxycycline (2.17%). The results of the evaluation of antibiotic use were 91.30% correct indication, 96.44% correct patient, 76.60% correct drug, and 32.90% correct dose.
