Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of variations in oxygen pressure of 3 bar, 4 bar, 5 bar on the topography and resulting surface roughness (Ra) on flat surfaces resulting from CNC gas cutting machining with a Mach 3 control system and ST 37 steel material. variations in oxygen pressure, then the roughness value was tested using the average Ra value method using the MITUTOYO SJ 210 surface roughness tester, and the topography was seen through the SEM (scanning electron microscopy) test. The research results show that the larger the oxygen pressure used during the CNC machining process with ST 37 steel material at an oxygen pressure of 4 bar produces smoother roughness values compared to an oxygen pressure of 3 bar. The highest level of roughness at 3 bars is 2.703 µm and 2.61 µm. while the lowest level of roughness at an oxygen pressure of 4 bar is 1.93 µm and 1.82 µm so the best level of smoothness is to use an oxygen pressure of 4 bar
