Abstract

The increasing development of technology and industry as well as rapid population growth mean that electricity demand continues to increase. Most human activities today use electrical energy. Until now, fossil energy is still used as an energy source for power plants to produce electrical energy. One power generator that is often used as an alternative by the public is a generator set. A generator is a device that can convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. The electrical energy produced by a generator can be AC (alternating electricity) or DC (unidirectional electricity). In this research, a type of permanent magnet synchronous generator was used. Researchers used a motorbike alternator as a generator, by changing the windings on the standard stator to increase its output. By utilizing mechanical energy sources that come from water flow and the help of turbines to rotate generators. To process the output produced by the generator so that it is able to meet load requirements, researchers added several supporting components such as kiprok diodes, buck converters, SCC (Solar Charger Controller), and Inverters. The test results of the generator output power ranged from 4 to 8 watts. The power efficiency produced by the tool when the battery alone is working is around 80%. The generator is able to provide additional power and the equipment's power efficiency increases to 90%. This portable generator can be a backup electrical energy to supply light loads to the house.
