Abstract

Microfinance institutions, such as Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT), play an important role in improving the welfare of the community, especially market traders. However, the literacy of market traders about BMT is still low. This study aims to analyze the literacy of market traders around Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) about BMT. This study uses a survey method with 26 market traders as respondents. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study showed that the literacy of market traders about BMT is still low. This is evident from the low knowledge of market traders about BMT products and services, as well as the low understanding of market traders about the benefits of BMT. This study provides recommendations to improve the literacy of market traders about BMT, including through socialization and education about BMT. In addition, BMT needs to improve the quality of its services to meet the needs of market traders.
