Abstract
Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the Aedes Aegepty mosquito. One factor in the high incidence of dengue fever is due to the lack of public knowledge about dengue fever. Efforts to increase public knowledge about dengue fever are through health education where it is hoped that public knowledge about dengue fever can increase and control activities become more effective. Objective: This research is to determine the effect of Health Education on the level of knowledge about preventing Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Method: This type of research is quantitative using a quasi-experimental study with a 'one-group pretest-posttest design'. There were 50 respondents to observe their level of knowledge about dengue prevention using a questionnaire before and after being given health education taken by accidental sampling. This research instrument used a knowledge level questionnaire and a dengue fever prevention booklet. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to respondents (pretest) then the researcher provided health education regarding dengue prevention, after that the researcher again distributed questionnaires to respondents (posttest). The data analysis used was the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test. Results: Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test yielded statistically signifant results (Sign.= 0,014 < 0.05). Conclusion : Research findings show the ”influence of health education on the level of knowledge about preventing dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Jumantono, Karanganyar.”
