Abstract
The Muhammadiyah University Surakarta campus is a campus that has quite a large student population. This is the background to the increasing number of snack vendors available around the campus. With the conditions of the selling place being open and food processing not paying attention to aspects of personal hygiene, this does not rule out the possibility of contamination of food due to a lack of attention to good personal hygiene in food. This research aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes and personal hygiene of food handlers. This research method uses analytical observational with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 106 food handlers using a non-probability sampling technique, accidental sampling type. This research instrument uses a questionnaire for the independent variable and the dependent variable. The research results show that there is no relationship between knowledge and personal hygiene of food handlers with a p-value of 0.231 and there is no relationship between attitudes and personal hygiene of food handlers with a p-value of 0.697. Good knowledge and a good attitude are not enough for food handlers to implement good personal hygiene, other factors are needed such as experience and years of work. Future researchers can test the correlation between experience factors and years of work with the personal hygiene of snack food handlers.
