Abstract

Cheating behavior is a negative behavior that is often found in Indonesian education. There are various factors that influence cheating behavior in students. The aim of this research is to find out and analyze the relationship between self-confidence and peer conformity on cheating behavior in students. The research method used was a correlational quantitative approach with cluster random sampling data collection techniques with a population of 277 students at Simo State Junior High School (SMP) 3, Boyolali. The research instrument used was a scale of self-confidence, peer conformity and student cheating behavior. Data analysis uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the major hypothesis show that there is a significant relationship between self-confidence and peer conformity and students' cheating behavior. The minor hypothesis shows that there is a significant positive relationship between self-confidence and students' cheating behavior. There is a significant positive relationship between peer conformity and students' cheating behavior. The effective contribution to two independent variables simultaneously is 0.239 or 23.9%, and partially self-confidence has a relationship of 11.49% while peer conformity is 12.39% with students' cheating behavior. The categorization results show that the self-confidence variable has a medium categorization, peer conformity has a medium categorization, and cheating behavior has a medium categorization.
