Abstract

This research aims to conduct an analysis of the incompatibility of conventional pawn transactions with the principles of sharia economic law. Conventional pawnshops, as a financial institution to help people get urgent finances safely and quickly. Through a comparative analysis approach, this research highlights a number of aspects of incompatibility, such as the use of interest (riba), unclear asset ownership, and multiple risks that may arise in conventional pawn practices. This research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach involving primary and secondary data collection, as well as in-depth analysis of related regulations and relevant literature. The research results show that discrepancies in aspects of these transactions can have a significant impact on the sustainability of conventional pawning in the context of sharia economics. The implications of these findings underscore the importance of understanding the differences between conventional pawning and sharia economic principles, and encourage serious consideration regarding the harmonization of conventional financial practices with sharia economic values. This research is expected to provide an understanding of what is not in accordance with sharia economic law in transactions at conventional pawnshops.
