Abstract

Early age marriage is currently widespread among people in both cities and villages, one of which is early age marriage in Tegal Regency which is in the 6th highest position in Central Java. This research is intended to 1). Examining the profile of early marriage during the COVID-19 pandemic period in 2020-2021. 2). Examining various factors that influence the occurrence of early marriage 3). Providing solutions to deal with and reduce the incidence of early marriage in the Tegal Regency area. Tegal Regency was chosen as the research location because of the high number of early marriages that occur. During the Covid-19 pandemic, 406 cases were recorded. In 2018 there were 61 cases and in 2019 there were 164 cases. The method applied in this research is a survey method with descriptive analysis. The geographic approach chosen is a spatial approach to determine the distribution pattern of early marriages during the Covid-19 pandemic. Field survey research and interviews with selected respondents using purposive sampling techniques using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample was determined based on the Slovin formula calculation, the result of which was 70 respondents in cases of early marriage in 2020-2021. The results of this research show that the highest number of early marriages in Tegal Regency is Suradadi District with 58 cases, and the lowest is Slawi District with 3 cases. Education is junior high school, age at marriage is 17 and 18 years, most respondents' occupation is self-employed. Economic factors play the highest major role as a cause of early marriage in Tegal Regency during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021. The economic factors in question are the economic burden on families which often encourages parents to quickly marry off their children in the hope of economic burden. families will decrease, because married daughters become the husband's responsibility. With a solution to reduce early marriage in Tegal Regency, namely the relevant institutions are expected to be firm in enforcing regulations by minimizing the soaring number of early marriages in Tegal Regency.
