Abstract

Choking is a condition where the respiratory tract is blocked by a foreign object in the form of food, toys, etc. Therefore, there is a need for maternal knowledge and Self-Efficacy in the first handling of choking in toddlers. Knowledge is what a person does after gaining sensation of a particular object. The aim is to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the mother's self-efficacy regarding the first treatment of choking in toddlers. This type of research is quantitative research. The research design uses correlational associative. In this study, a probability sampling technique was used with a sampling method using simple random sampling with a total sample of 85 respondents using a cross sectional approach. The research was conducted from September 2023 to January 2024. The instrument used in this research was a knowledge level questionnaire consisting of 21 questions, with 55 respondents (65.7%) getting results in the good knowledge category and a self-efficacy questionnaire consisting of 18 questions, getting results in the good knowledge category. high self-efficacy, namely 49 respondents (57.6%). The results of the Spearman Rank test showed that the p-value was 0.001 (p-value <0.05). The conclusion of this researcher shows that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the mother's self-efficacy regarding the first treatment of choking in toddlers in Menggungan Sawahan village.
