Abstract
Stres is a health phenomenon that is felt by many individuals in everyday life. One of the stresses that can occur in individuals is academic stress. This study aims to examine the correlation between self esteem and adversity quotient on academic stress. The subject in this research were 423 undergraduate students who were studying at least 3rd semester at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The approach used in the research is quantitative correlational. The data collection method is distributed online via google form. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show that there is a very significant correlation between self esteem and adversity quotient on academic stress in the students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This is known from the result of the F test which obtained F value of 138,029 and significance value of 0.000. From the results of the analysis of each variable, it shows that there is a negative and significant correlation. The negative and significant correlation between self esteem and academic stress shows that the higher the self esteem, the lower the academic stress experienced. There is also a negative and very significant correlation between adversity quotient and academic stress, which also shows that the higher the adversity quotient, the lower the academic stress experienced. The total variable effective contribution is 39,7 %.
