Abstract

Radicalism is an extremist attitude that seeks change through violent means. Radical ideas expressed with fanaticism and intolerance are becoming more evident in Indonesia for a number of groups and individuals who act according to their personal wishes, to achieve certain goals.According to Masdar Hilmy, a misconception of religion occurs when Religious Education is interpreted textually and literally, so that Islam's mission to bring peace and mercy becomes reduced by too narrow an understanding. In this context, the emergence of the term religious radicalism refers to views and attitudes that tend to be narrow and unable to dialogue with other religions. In preventing radicalism, there are several steps, one of which is a theory put forward by Mukodi in his journal through 4 cultural approaches, namely: scientific culture, religious culture, social culture, and political culture. This research is a qualitative research with the type of field research (field research), with the aim of researchers conducting direct research into the field, namely the Al Ikhlas Mojolaban Sukoharjo Islamic Boarding School. The techniques used in collecting data are interviews, observations, and documentation of Islamic boarding schools. The data that has been collected needs to be analyzed to produce valid and credible data, namely with Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques with data collection steps, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Data validity is done by triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results of this study show that the Al Ikhlas Mojolaban Sukoharjo Islamic Boarding School in preventing religious radicalism in Islamic boarding schools has produced positive results. Steps to prevent radicalism are through 4 cultures: scientific culture by placing emphasis on learning religious science and general science that is balanced, so that it can be understood holistically and critically; religious culture through daily practices such as congregational prayer, tadarus, memorization and study of the Qur'an & As-Sunnah, as well as the yellow book; social culture as a step to appreciate diversity and create harmony between individuals, with mutual aid activities, charity activities, community studies and group discussions; Inclusive and democratic political culture. Tierproof since the Islamic boarding school graduated the first batch until now there are no alumni or students who are still actively indicated by radicalism. In addition, they also contribute and have a positive impact on the surrounding community by being able to receive them among the community and providing useful knowledge to them.
