Abstract
The use of lightweight bricks in housing construction in Indonesia has significant benefits in reducing wall loads in building structure calculations. Fly Ash is used as an innovation in mortar mixtures due to its abundant availability and has a chemical compound composition that is almost similar to the compounds in cement. The utilization of fly ash has the potential to make the future construction industry more sustainable. This research aims to compare the slump test value and compressive strength of lightweight bricks in mortar technology with a mixture of High Valume Fly Ash (HVFA) innovation materials and admixture type foaming agents compared to normal lightweight bricks. This study was conducted with a compressive strength of 2 Mpa with a cement to sand ratio of 1:3 and 1:5. This study used an admixture to water ratio of 1:25. The results showed that the addition of fly ash increased the workability of the mortar mixture in the slump flow test. Then in the content weight and water absorption tests showed the results that the greater the composition of the mortar mix variation, the greater the porosity and water absorption values in the mortar. The results of the strong concrete compressive test show that the greater the composition of the mortar mix variation, the lower the compressive strength value of the mortar due to the greater proportion between cement and sand, so that the bonding or bonding strength of the mixture decreases.
