Abstract

K-Pop or Korean Pop is one of the music that is much loved by young people. Social media can also help spread the culture. In an effort to create intimate communication with ARMY, Hybe Entertainment created Weverse as a communication medium. The intimacy of this information can affect the acceptance of the relationship felt by ARMYs so as to create a parasocial relationship between them and BTS. During parasocial relationships, ARMYs will create an intimate closeness and feel that they have a special relationship with BTS. So, they will feel the various emotions felt by BTS members when making posts on Weverse. This studywas conducted to determine the emotional closeness felt by ARMYs to BTS in parasocial relationships on Weverse social media. So, the formulation of the problem was found, namely how emotional closeness does ARMY feel to BTS in parasocial relationships on Weverse social media? In data processing, researchers use a qualitative approach, and narrative data analysis. Data collection techniques carried out by researchers are interviews and observations. Researchers conducted interviews with informants and made observations on features on Weverse. The result obtained from this study is that emotional closeness can be seen when there is a post from BTS about the sad feelings he feels, ARMYs will also feel sad, but on the contrary, when BTS members post with happy feelings, ARMYs will also be happy. With various messages on Weverse, ARMYs and BTS can establish an intimate relationship and feelings of belonging to each other so as to create emotional closeness between them.
