Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is a form of behavior that deviates from existing norms in society. Apart from that, juvenile delinquency is also an act that is detrimental to society. In a family where teenage children commit juvenile delinquency, interpersonal communication strategies are needed as supervision and attention from parents to the child. The aim of this research is to find out the interpersonal communication strategies of parents towards teenage children in dealing with juvenile delinquency in Sanggrahan sub-district, Grogol sub-district, Sukoharjo. The theory in this research is dyadic power theory. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of this research show that parents have strategies to prevent deviant behavior, such as instilling religious values, discipline, honesty and openness. Based on interpersonal communication requirements, researchers found 3 findings such as 1). Openness (openness), 2). Empathy (Emphaty), 3). Supportiveness.
