Abstract

In the manufacturing process, automotive companies have standards that must be met in determining measurement deviations. This is done to maintain the quality of the products produced, which have certain priority standards in determining geometric tolerances. The tool usually used in this measurement process is a CMM (coordinate measuring machine). In this research, we used a CMM with a Portable CMM called Absolute Arm Hexagon, which has a shape like a human arm. There are 2 methods of data collection in using CMM, namely probbing (measurement with direct contact with the object being measured) using a 3 mm probe type and scanning (measurement without direct contact with the object being measured) using an As type scanner 1. Data collection is carried out 2x from each method to compare the ∑ Amt out value (average error value) from each method. The results of the 1st probbing test have an ∑ Amt out (average error value) of 0.293673 mm, while the measurement results of the 1st scanning method have an ∑ Amt out (average error value) of 1.155 mm. The measurement results for probbing method 2 have ∑ Amt out (average error value) of 0.069135 mm, while the measurement results for scanning method 1 have ∑ Amt out (average error value) of 0.36775 mm. This can be interpreted as meaning that the measurement results using the probbing method have a smaller error value compared to measurements using the scanning method.
