Abstract

Health problems arise when a person's physical, psychological, and social well-being is not fulfilled with different individual interests, so everyone's mental health is not the same. The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the relationship between comic reading intensity and psychological well-being conditions of adolescent comic readers and differentiate comic reading intensity and psychological well-being in adolescent boys and girls. This study uses descriptive quantitative techniques with a correlation research design. Subjects totaled 197 people. Subject selection was done by accidental sampling. There are two tools used, namely The Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scales (WEMWBS) and the comic reading intensity scale. The questionnaire was distributed using google form. The correlation value is 0.098 which is positive with a sig value of 0.173>0.05, so there is no influence between the comic reading intensity variable on psychological well-being, using simple regression. Completing the comic reading intensity questionnaire showed that 73 male subjects got a mean value of 26.9315 and 124 female subjects a mean value of 27.9355, indicating there was no significant difference in comic reading intensity. There were 73 male subjects with a mean WEMWBS score of 55.4247 and 124 female subjects with a mean score of 55.2258, indicating no significant difference in psychological well-being.
