Abstract

Advances in internet technology have provided developments in online buying and selling. This causes the consumer's position to become weaker in front of the seller because the product to be purchased cannot be checked directly, so if defects are hidden this can be detrimental to consumers. Because there are so many cases of product defects that occur, this article will discuss liability for product defects both from the perspective of electronic transaction information law and according to marketplace policy. According to the ITE Law liability can be in the form of a threat of imprisonment and if according to marketplace policy then you will receive compensation, etc. This research uses descriptive research, where the data collection technique uses library research. The purpose of this research is so that people who are victims of product defects know what steps must be taken to seek accountability according to applicable laws and policies
