Abstract
Soil is an inseparable part in civil engineering building planning. In civil engineering work, the soil must have a bearing capacity strong enough to support the construction on it. Each type of soil has its own specifications and characteristics, so it requires different handling both mechanically and chemically. Of the various types of soil, clay soil is one that exists in Indonesia. Clay soil has high plasticity and cohesive properties so that if it is used for construction work it must be given special treatment first before it can be used for construction work. This research aims to see how clay soil in the Tanon area, Sragen Regency changes before and after adding eggshell powder. The variations in adding egg shell powder were 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10%. The physical test results of the original soil showed a water content of 8.18%, a specific gravity of 2.667, a liquid limit of 86.44%, a plastic limit of 32.63%, a shrinkage limit of 27.26%, a plasticity index of 53.81%, and it passed sieve no. 200 is 67.00%. Meanwhile, the mechanical test results of the original soil showed that the optimum water content was 28.20%, the dry volume was 1.45 gr/cm3 and the CBR value was 3.95%. From the results of the DST values, the values for cohesion and internal friction angle were obtained. The original soil cohesion value was found to be 0.152 kg/cm2.
