Abstract

The library is a learning resource, reading material to foster interest in reading which is currently felt to be weak. The school library should be used as a place or means to help stimulate enthusiasm for learning, foster interest in reading, and encourage students to get used to learning independently. This research aims to describe the role of libraries as learning resource centers in schools. In this research, the method used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis used is interactive by Miles & Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that the library plays a role for teachers, students and school residents as a source of information for learning. However, libraries are still not optimal in their role as learning resources because their role has not been maximized by students. This is based on the fact that students are still not aware of how important the school library is. Students also still have low interest in reading. If students can maximize the role of the library well, it will have an impact on student achievement. Student achievement becomes more optimal.
