Abstract
UMKM Marnis is a business located in the Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency. UMKM Marnis still utilizes traditional equipment in its production processes, particularly in the production of banana chips, where the cutting process requires a considerable amount of time. Although UMKM Marnis had previously employed a banana cutting machine, the results did not meet the requirements. The aim of this research is to enable UMKM to evaluate the current condition of the banana cutting tool, analyze the working system of the current cutting tool, and design a new banana cutting machine. Therefore, a redesign is carried out using the Reverse Engineering method. The redesign of the new machine takes advantage of the strengths and eliminates the weaknesses of both the previously used machine and the current manual tool at UMKM Marnis. The manual tool has an average cutting time of 70 seconds, while the new cutting machine has an average cutting time of 48.6 seconds. The results of the redesign are then analyzed using a product feasibility questionnaire to compare with the previously used machine. The redesigned machine received a 91.8% approval rate from 7 respondents, who are employees of UMKM Marnis. The redesign of the banana cutting machine aligns with the initial planning. However, it is noted that the new cutting machine still has a deficiency in the functionality of the outhole, which is not fully optimized.
