Abstract
The presence of a child is a gift from God that is expected by every married couple. Parents expect their children to grow perfectly and well physically, socially, cognitively and mentally. But in reality desires and expectations do not match. Especially parents who have children with special needs. With the condition of children who experience autism, spectrum disorder can be a trigger for psychological stress for mothers and fathers. Increased stress levels will put parents at greater risk of emotional and psychological distress. This study was conducted with the aim of determining self-confidence in socializing in parents who have children with autism spectrum disorder. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques using semi-structured interview methods. Participants in this study were parents who had children with autism spectrum disorder totaling 6 informants selected using purposive sampling techniques. The results showed that all informants were able to process towards confidence in socializing in the community. A confident informant has confidence in himself being able to nurture and educate his child, able to look at the child's future, not compare, parents do not need praise or support, do not force their children and understand the abilities that exist in children.
