Abstract

The development of a region, especially urban areas, plays an important role as the center of regional development. However, over time, growth in various industries has given rise to the UHI phenomenon. The UHI phenomenon is an increase in temperature in urban areas compared to the surrounding areas. Pekanbaru City as a growth center covers important sectors such as plantations, industry, agriculture and others. The focus of this study is on the evolution of vegetation area, land surface temperature (LST) and the development of urban heat islands (UHI) with a comparison of 2004 and 2019. This research was carried out by applying Landsat 5 images from 2004 and 2019 to Landsat 8 images using regression analysis. and spatio temporal. The results obtained show that the comparison between 2004 and 2019 in terms of vegetation density has changed significantly and has increased. The LST status in 2004 was in the lowest range from <22.8℃ to the highest 29.5℃, then there was an increase in 2019 which covered almost all areas in the lowest LST <20.82℃ to the highest 30.2℃. The UHI movement in 2004 tended to be more stable compared to 2019 which increased quite rapidly. It is hoped that this research can help and develop future solutions.
