Abstract

During a pandemic, economic difficulties that arise can cause problems in the household. The purpose of this study is to inform conflict management strategies used by husbands and wives who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the co-19 pandemic. The informants of this study were six married couples who experienced economic difficulties during the pandemic in Surakarta. This study uses modern conflict theory proposed by Lewis A. Coser and conflict management strategies by De Vito. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, using in-depth interview techniques to collect data, and purposive sampling techniques in determining informants. The results of this study are that domestic conflicts during a pandemic can take the form of 1) personality, 2) family background, 3) misunderstandings, 4) economic difficulties. Strategies that are often used to solve household problems are 1) win-win solutions, 2) Avoidance, 3) Talk strategies. Informants thought that domestic conflicts could strengthen relationships if conflicts were resolved properly.
