Abstract
He current utilization of alternative energy should have been one of the highlights to reduce dependence on fuel oil (BBM). One of the recommended alternative energies is Etanol. Etanol can be used as an alternative fuel mixture. Therefore, this study aims to obtain Etanol with 99% content by batch distillation process, at atmospheric pressure and Pot temperature of 78-86oC. The feed composition simulated on factory scale 1000 kmol consists of a mixture of Etanol (0.11%), water (0.64%), and isoamyl Alcohol (0.25%). The research was conducted using Aspen Plus simulation software. The results of the study showed that the highest Etanol level was obtained by distillation 4 times and the results obtained were 99% Etanol content, with a distillation duration of 20 hours.
