Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of variations in torch height of 1 mm, 2 mm - 3 mm and without torch height control on the material cutting process with CNC Plasma Cutting. The research process that will be carried out includes several tests, namely testing surface roughness and surface topography. Surface roughness testing was carried out using a Mitutyo SJ 210 surface roughness tester, and surface topography using a SEM tool. Surface roughness test results. Variations in torch height of 2 mm have the smoothest roughness values, while variations without torch control have the roughest roughness values. Surface topography test results show that the surface variation with a torch height of 2 mm has a smooth surface with a tendency to be blue and slightly red, while the variation without torch height control has the roughest surface with a tendency to be red and slightly blue.
