Abstract
One of the most important ways for a country to generate income outside of oil, gas and taxes is through tourism. Due to the advancement of the tourism industry, vacationing has become a psychological necessity and a lifestyle. Beach tourism in Donorojo Pacitan District, for example, is the main economic driver for the region and Pacitan Regency as a whole. The aim of this research is to determine the types of community participation in developing tourist attractions in Donorojo District, Pacitan Regency, as well as the factors that encourage and inhibit community participation in the area. Data from both primary (collected in the field) and secondary sources is processed through analytical software and then interpreted using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. Analysis findings are displayed visually in the form of tables and graphs. The results of the research show that from 4 tourist areas with a total of 73 respondents, the results showed a very high level of participation with the percentage joining organizations taking part in events. (45.2%), obtaining employment (54.8%), and service providers (30.1%). This could be an indication that the majority of people around coastal areas have an active role in tourism development. So it is hoped that the local government's attention can be increased for good tourism development.
