Abstract

Agriculture is a component that cannot be ignored, Indonesia is a country with the majority of its population making their living as farmers, and is also a large agricultural country. However, Indonesia still depends on imports of food raw materials from other countries, because food production in Indonesia is still unstable or unstable, especially corn production. Therefore, the aim of this research is to determine the suitability of land for corn crops in Kauman District and the limiting factors that inhibit corn production can be identified and overcome. This research uses a survey method and is followed by laboratory analysis, and sampling uses a purposive sampling method with reference to land units. The data that has been obtained is then processed using the matching or comparison analysis method by referring to land suitability guidelines for corn crops and descriptive analysis. The results of the research show that land suitability classes for corn crops in Kauman sub-district are divided into 2 classes with details of class S2 with an area of 2661.8 ha or 78.15% of the area of Kauman sub-district, which includes the villages of Kauman, Sumoroto, Carat, Maron, Plosojenar, Ciluk , Gabel, Semanding, Pengkol, Bringin, Nglarangan, and parts of Ngrandu village. Meanwhile, the S3 class has an area of 744.2 ha or 21.85% of the area of Kauman sub-district, which includes the villages of Nongkodono, Tegalombo, Sukosari and part of Ngrandu village. Meanwhile, the limiting factors for land suitability class S2 include average annual temperature, soil pH, P_2 O_5, K_2 O, and slope. Meanwhile, the limiting factors for land suitability class S3 include soil drainage and slopes.
