Abstract
Anxiety is a subjective individual experience, which often manifests as dysfunctional behavior that is interpreted as a feeling of "difficulty" and distress about events that are not known with certainty. Events in life such as facing demands, competition, and disasters can have an impact on physical and psychological health. One example of psychological impact is the onset of anxiety or anxiety. The purpose of this study was to describe the perception of anxiety in families who have family members with mental disorders. Method: this research is a qualitative study with a narrative inquiry design, involving 6 participants who care for their family members in in-depth interviews. Results: from the identification of themes, 5 themes were obtained related to family perceptions of anxiety of family members with mental disorders, namely: 1) Families know the signs and symptoms of family members with mental disorders, 2) Families can avoid mental disorders by understanding the factors that cause anxiety, 3) Families have different perceptions of family members' anxiety, 4) Families understand how to handle mental disorder anxiety, 5) Families have positive expectations of people with anxiety disorders so that family members with mental disorders can recover.
