Abstract
Central Java Province is one of the economic centers that influences changes in land use from vegetation to non-vegetation and is one of the triggers for rising land surface temperatures. This study aims to analyze the distribution of land surface temperature and vegetation density using MODIS imagery and analyze the relationship between vegetation density and land surface temperature in Central Java Province in 2014 and 2021. The method used in this research is the use of MODIS products LST MOD11 and NDVI MOD13 by calibrating land surface temperature values and vegetation density. The results of this study are that the distribution of land surface temperature with the highest class (31.5°C - 37.92°C) in 2014 is only in the city center with a low vegetation density value, whereas in 2021 the temperature with the highest class spreads in the surrounding area. urban. The temperatures with the lowest class in 2014 and 2021 (13.28 °C - 23.5 °C) are in areas with high vegetation density values. The relationship between vegetation density and land surface temperature has a strong correlation with a negative value, so areas with high temperatures are found in areas with low vegetation density, and conversely areas with low temperatures are found in high vegetation densities. The highest effect of vegetation density on land surface temperature was in the seasonal time series in 2014 with an effect of 49% and the other 51% was a variable not examined, the regression equation for this time series is LST = 41.642 - (18.509*NDVI).
