Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial and highly vulnerable period for individuals, both physically and psychologically. During the adolescent phase, self-acceptance issues are most common, as adolescents often struggle to fully accept themselves. Self-acceptance is a fundamental aspect of an adolescent's life, yet many adolescents struggle to effectively implement and understand it. The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between gratitude and forgiveness with self-acceptance in adolescents. This research adopts a quantitative correlational approach. The respondents in this study are students from Batik 1 High School Surakarta, Muhammadiyah 1 High School Surakarta, and N 2 High School Sukoharjo, with a total of approximately 2778 students. A sample of 350 students, aged approximately 14-18 years old, was selected using proportional random sampling techniques. Data collection instruments included gratitude, forgiveness, and self-acceptance scales in the form of questionnaires distributed in both paper and Google Forms. The data analysis technique used was multiple linear regression analysis with the assistance of Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) IBM version 22. The data results indicate a significant relationship between gratitude and forgiveness with self-acceptance when tested together, as evidenced by the value of R=0.637 and p=0.000 (p<0.05). There is a positive relationship between gratitude and self-acceptance, as indicated by a obtained value of r=0.630 (p<0.05). There is also a positive relationship between forgiveness and self-acceptance, as indicated by an obtained value of r=0.470 (p<0.05). The effective contribution of the independent variables in this study is 40.6%, of which 34.8% is influenced by the gratitude variable and 5.8% is influenced by the forgiveness variable, while the percentage influenced by other variables is 59.4%.
