Abstract
Ngawi Regency is a Regency whose territory is dominated by land use in the form of agricultural land, but as time goes by, and the increasing population makes the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural land unavoidable. The land potential index is a land assessment effort to produce a land that can be used according to the potential of the land. Through the Land Potential Index, land use is expected to produce optimal productivity and maintain sustainable land. The aims of this study were (1) to describe the distribution of the agricultural land potential index in Ngawi Regency (2) to analyze the suitability of the agricultural land potential index to agricultural productivity in Ngawi Regency. The method used in this study is a tiered quantitative method by grading the parameters of the land potential index, namely slope, soil type, lithology, hydrogeology, as determining factors and landslide hazard as a limiting factor for analyzing the land potential index in Ngawi Regency, method overlapping the land potential index with agricultural land to analyze the potential of agricultural land in Ngawi Regency, and the Pearson product moment correlation method to analyze the suitability relationship between the land potential index and agricultural productivity. The results obtained from this study are the distribution map of the land potential index and the correlation between the land potential index and agricultural productivity. Based on these results, Ngawi Regency has four Land Potential Index classes, namely very low class covering 696,998 Ha, low class covering 50,444 Ha, medium class covering 788,177 Ha, high class 7,230 Ha. The results of the correlation index of land potential with agricultural productivity produce a relationship that is quite strong but not in the same direction between the two. Keywords: Land Potential Index (IPL), Agricultural Land Productivity, Ngawi Regency.
