Abstract

Hate speech against Korean idols is increasingly easy to happen and spread on online platforms. Telegram is an online platform that accommodates idol haters to convey hate speech, one of which is the BTS Haters telegram group. This study aims to describe the types of illocutionary acts of hate speech in the BTS Haters telegram group. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative. As for the research technique used by researchers, namely qualitative content analysis techniques. In this study to find out the content of hate speech messages using pragmatic studies using speech act theory. The findings of this study are that hate speech in the Haters BTS telegram group is divided into 4 categories, namely physical (gender, plastic), sexual orientation, religion (circumcision/circumcision, BTS as a form of worship), and achievement (reputation, work). While the forms of illocutionary speech acts found in this study are assertive, expressive, and directive.
