Abstract
Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a non-communicable disease which is one of the unresolved health problems. By preventing DM individuals can reduce the risk of DM complications, improve quality of life, reduce health costs, maintain overall health. Objective: analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes with diabetes mellitus prevention behavior in the working area of the Sibela Health Center. Methods: The type of research is analytic quantitative research with an observational research design through a cross sectional study approach. The research sample was 167 people obtained using purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and interviews using instruments in the form of standardized questionnaires (DKQ-24) for knowledge variables, (DAS-3) for attitude variables that have been tested for validity and reliability. Analysis using Chi- Square. Results: The results of this research showed that there was no relationship between knowledge (p-value=0.468) and there was a relationship between attitudes (p-value=0.024) and preventive behavior in the Sibela Health Center work area. Conclusion: important for young adults to make behavioral changes such as maintaining diet, maintaining weight according to BMI (not experiencing obesity), complying with non-communicable disease Posbindu activities and doing physical activity to keep their blood sugar close to normal.
