Abstract

Recycled materials are aggregate and asphalt components resulting from dismantling damaged road pavement. For further use, this material needs to be extracted, the results of the extraction are asphalt that has experienced aging, where in its use the asphalt is rejuvenated to restore the properties of the asphalt and vegetable oil is selected to meet the technical requirements to form a new mixture. Vegetable oil was tried by palm plants as a rejuvenating agent, while fresh aggregate material was added to the aggregate. This research aims to determine the contribution of adding vegetable oil as a rejuvenating agent to the Hot Rolled Sheet Wearing Coarse (HRS-WC) mixture in terms of Marshall Properties, IRI and Workability. This research is based on laboratory experiments with variations of rejuvenator in the form of vegetable oil as much as 5%, 5.5%, 6%, and 7% to the total weight of 100 grams of asphalt, then fresh asphalt is added to the mixture with variations of 10%, 20%, 30 % and 40% of the total weight of asphalt which has been added with 6% vegetable oil, amounting to 106 gr. Next, look for the optimum asphalt content (KAO) at asphalt levels of 5%, 6% and 7% of the total mixture weight of 1200 gr until a result of 6.5% is obtained. After KAO is obtained, test objects are made to carry out Marshall Properties, IRI (Unevenness) and Workability tests. Based on research results with the addition of 6% vegetable oil and 40% fresh asphalt, test results were obtained that met the 2010 Bina Marga Division 6 specifications. Penetration test results = 66 (0.1 mm), softening point = 57.5 ◦C, specific gravity =1.09, and ductility =1102 mm. As for the results of the Marshall Properties test, the highest average stability value was at the 6% level = 1674.490 kg, the highest average flow value was at the 5% level = 4.133 mm, the highest average VFWA value was at the 7% level = 82.578% , the highest average VMA value at the 7% level = 18.520%, the highest average VIM value at the 5% level = 5.278%, the highest average MQ value at the 6% level = 579,534 kg/mm, overall it meets the specifications . For the IRI (International Roughness Index) test, the results were 2,626 m/km, which meets the specifications because it is below 4 m/km. Meanwhile, the average workability test results were 115.206% from 3 test objects.
