Abstract

Ice tea is a drink that is much loved by the public because it has a fragrant aroma and distinctive taste, this drink is usually used as a food companion. However, processing and manufacturing processes that do not pay attention to hygiene will easily be contaminated with Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria which will cause diseases, one of which is diarrhea. This study aims to identify the presence of Escherichia coli and Coliform bacteria that are sold around the Surakarta Muhammadiyah University campus. This type of research is descriptive research. The population for this study is all iced tea drinks sold around the Surakarta Muhammadiyah University campus. The sample in this study was 14 samples using accidental sampling technique. Sample inspection test using the compact dry EC method. The research results showed that none of the 14 samples tested negative for Escherichia Coli bacteria were identified. However, there were 6 (42.8%) positive samples where coliform bacteria were identified. So based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2023 concerning drinking water which requires coliforms of 0/100 ml. Conclusion: 6 (42.8%) samples were not suitable for consumption and 8 (57.2%) samples were suitable for consumption.
