Abstract

Mitigation education can be carried out through formal and informal education. Through formal education, among others, at school by participating in extracurricular activities at school. This study aims to 1) analyze student participation in flood mitigation education at SMP N 1 Grogol Sukoharjo, 2) analyze the level of student preparedness for flood mitigation at SMP N 1 Grogol Sukoharjo, 3) analyze the effect of applying disaster mitigation education to increase preparedness in when a flood occurs. The population of this study were class VIII students of SMP N 1 Grogol Sukoharjo, totaling 288 students with a sample of 58 students taken randomly. Data collection techniques using questionnaires. Data analysis using the Spearman Rank Test. The results showed that 1) Student participation in disaster mitigation education was in the "good" category with a total of 34 students (58.6%), 2) The level of student preparedness was in the "very prepared" category with a total of 24 students. While the number of "not ready" categories was 23 people, 3) The results of the Spearman Rank test were 0.823 with a significance of 0.00, thus it can be concluded that student participation in disaster mitigation education has an effect on disaster preparedness.
