Abstract

This study discusses the Analysis of Errors in the Use of Words and Suffixes in Explanatory Text of Class XI Students of Senior High School 1 Polanharjo. The purpose of this study was to describe the mistakes in writing words in the explanatory text of clas XI students of Senior High School 1 Polanharjo. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research method which aims to show errors in writing words and suffixes in the explanatory text, while the subject is clas XI of Senior High School 1 Polanharjo. Data collection techniques in this study used 2 (two) techniques, namely documents and literature. The validity of the data in this study uses theoretical triangulation. The data analysis technique uses the orthographic method of writing with the basic technique of sorting out the determinants (PUP), then proceed with the equalizing comparison technique (HBS). The results of this study found 10 writing errors in word and suffixes in explanatory text that had been written by Class XI Students of Senior High School 1 Polanharjo. There were 4 mistakes in writing word, while in writing mistakes in suffixes there were 6 mistakes. Errors in writing word consist of prepositions, standard word, and repeated words. In the aspect of the suffix consist of the suffix-i, the suffix –an, the suffix –kan, and the suffix-nya. Keywords: Words, Suffix, Text Explanatory
