Abstract

Alkaloids, tannins, and polyphenolic substances are all found in piper betle L. extract. The substance has antimicrobial properties. This investigation was done to find out how much polyphenolic substances, tannins, and alkaloids were present in the green betel leaf extract. Making extracts using the serating method and analyzing the results using the thin-layer chromatography (KLT) test method are the first steps in the research stage. By choosing the optimal eluent and figuring out the reagent solution, the KLT test is carried out. When exposed to UV 254 nm and UV 366 nm light, the reagent demonstrates stains in the form of color as proof ofthe presence of chemicals in the green betel leaf extract. In this research, three different extract concentrations were usedextract concentration of 10%, 30% and extract concentration of 70%. the results of the research, green betel leaf extract only included polyphenolic chemicals at a concentration of 10% and did not contain any tannins or alkaloids. However, 30% and 70% of the Piper betle L extract is positive for contains polyphenolic substances, tannins, and alkaloids. The Rf value ranges from 0.2 to 0.8 for a very sufficient separation, and it can be expressed up to 1.0. The results found that tannins with an extract concentration of 70% and an Rf value of 0.73 had the highest Rf value.
