Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a long-term chronic condition that is dangerous if not treated immediately. People with diabetes mellitus need to do self-management for the treatment of diabetes and control the occurrence of complications. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and health workers with self-management of Diabetes Mellitus sufferers Prolanis Participants in the work area of the Kedungmundu Health Center. The family support research instrument used the Hensarling Diabetes Family Support Scale (HDFSS) questionnaire, self-management using the Diabetes Self-Management Questionairre (DSMQ) questionnaire and the support of health workers carried out validity tests obtained r count > r table (0.329) and reliability tests of 0.739. This type of research uses quantitative observational analytics with Cross Sectional research design. Large sample of 139 people with Simple Random Sampling technique in the working area of Kedungmundu Health Center Semarang City and data analysis using Chi-Square test. The results showed no relationship between family support (p-value 0.361) and there was a relationship between health worker support (p-value 0.025) with self-management of DM sufferers of prolanist participants in the Working Area of the Kedungmundu Health Center in Semarang City. It is known that most DM sufferers are housewives and most are not supported by their families. Therefore, it is necessary for health workers to provide education to family members of DM sufferers and health workers need to add education about good and correct treatment so that DM sufferers have good self-management so that complications do not occur.
