Abstract

Background: Cerebral Palsy is a growth and development disorder, especially in children, this disorder can occur due to several factors, namely prenatal, natal and postnatal. The population of Cerebral Palsy itself is increasing every year in a journal published by Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology (DMCN), data is taken globally that children with Cerebral Palsy sufferers in low- and middle-income countries are still higher compared to high-income countries, meaning that the prevalence of CP sufferers is higher in low-income countries including Indonesia. Then, in this Cerebral Palsy condition, manifestations or disturbances appear, one of which is interference with motor function which affects the growth and development system in children. Hydrotherapy is a suitabel method for CP sufferers, in addition to easing the burden on the joints, this method is also effective in providing a stimulus to help the sufferer's motor system. This study aims to determine the effect of Hydrotherapy with the Halliwick concept method on children with Cerebral Palsy. Methods: The study design used for this study was a literature review on articles of the Randomized Controlled Trial type which then discussed articles based on the contents of the discussion in accordance with what would be reviewed. Then the appraisal stage uses the PEDro Scale as an assessment or scoring for each article being reviewed. Results: The average journal article is in Quartile 2, and all journal articles show that all articles show a moderate risk of bias (total score 7/10), where 2 articles with a total score of 7/10, 2 articles with a total score of 6/10, and there is 1 article with a total score of 2/10. As for the results, it was found that the Aquatic therapy intervention was quite effective and significant in helping to improve the motor skills of children with Cerebral Palsy conditions. Conclusion: Hydrotheraphy/Aquatic therapy intervention using the Halliwick concept method can be combined with other interventions that can have an effect on improving motor function in patients with CP in both acute and chronic phases. The recommended dose of exercise is 2 times/week for 6 weeks with a duration of 30-60 minutes of exercise.
