Abstract
Indonesia is an archipelagic country with a population of 278.69 million people. Therefore, the amount of consumption of the Indonesian people is something that must be considered because consumption is one of the determinants of people's welfare in a country. Consumption is an activity carried out by humans to meet their needs by using goods and services. Production activities are also triggered by consumption activities carried out by the community, and vice versa. This study aims to measure the direction and magnitude of the influence of inflation, GDP, exchange rates, deposit rates, and income taxes on the consumption level of the Indonesian people in 2002-2020. This study uses time series data and the method of analysis used in this study is Ordinary Lease Squares (OLS) regression analysis. The results of the study show that an increase in the exchange rate does not make Indonesians reduce their consumption, but an increase in the value of income tax makes Indonesians reduce their consumption. Meanwhile, inflation, GDP, and interest rates on savings (SBS) did not have any effect on the level of public consumption. It is hoped that the Indonesian government can add and improve the quality of domestic products, so that prices can be more competitive with imported products from other countries and the government can meet the consumption needs of the Indonesian people, especially when there is an increase in the US dolar exchange rate so that there is no decrease in the amount of consumption which has an impact on economic growth. in Indonesia. Income tax also needs to be maintained and stabilized so that the income of the Indonesian people can increase so that there is no decrease in the amount of public consumption which can disrupt the rate of economic growth in Indonesia.
