Abstract

The strategic location of Kecamatan Kartasura, bordering directly with Kota Kartasura and being traversed by a primary arterial road, makes it suitable for accommodating extensive activities, particularly informal ones. The pandemic has driven individuals to seek new livelihoods, transitioning from formal to informal sectors, including becoming street vendors (PKL). The supportive environment and pandemic impact have led to an increase in the number of stree vendors’s in the area, although this has resulted in an environment less comfortable for some residents. This study aims to analyze potential business areas for street vendors (PKLs) in Kecamatan Kartasura and assess the extent of these areas based on factors influencing PKL location selection. The research employs a weighting method to evaluate crucial factors in PKL location selection, encompassing accessibility, visibility, traffic, parking facilities, expansion potential, environmental aspects, competition, and governmental regulations. Field surveys are conducted using probability accidental sampling for data collection. The study utilizes a quantitative descriptive analysis method, with data processing executed using Geographic Information System (GIS) applications involving field calculator, buffering, and overlay intersect techniques. The final output of this research is a Potential Business Area Map for PKLs in Kecamatan Kartasura, Kabupaten Sukoharjo, at a scale of 1:40,000, categorized into three levels: low-potential area, moderate-potential area, and high-potential area. The high-potential area covers a total of 29.93 hectares, with the largest segment in the village of Pabelan at 6.94 hectares (23%). The moderate-potential area spans 83.1 hectares, primarily concentrated in the village of Makamhaji at 16.23 hectares (20%). Lastly, the low-potential area comprises 2086 hectares, with the village of Pucangan representing the largest portion at 323.65 hectares (16%).
