Abstract

In 2020, there was quantitative research on the Bugis-Makassar Tribe which resulted in the factors of Emotinal stability, Extraversion, Consciousness, Intellectual, and Selfishness. This study aims to conduct Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) of 50 items of the adapted version that has been done by Akhtar and Azwar (Akhtar & Azwar, 2019) which is based on factors that appear in the Bugis-Makassar tribe and will later be used as a comparison of factors that appear in the Tidung-Tarakan tribe. The content validity of the 50 items was tested with 3 raters. Two hundred respondents have helped to fill out the Big Five Personality item scale in the Tidung-Tarakan culture. The data taken from 200 respondents were then processed using the JASP application. From the results of the KMO calculation using JASP, it was found that the overall MSA value was 0.737 (KMO> 0.5) and the Bartlette test value was 0.001 (p < 0.05). The EFA calculation then showed that there were five factors that showed a loading factor > 0.5. This shows that the theoretical construct of Big Five Personality can be measured with 22 valid items from the EFA calculation that has been done. Furthermore, the five factors will be compared with the factors that appear in the Bugis-Makassar tribe and their explanations.
